08 Feb Orinoco Spring 2016

The Orinoco is one of the longest rivers in South America, most of it running through Venezuela (and a bit in Colombia). It is home to many species including the giant anaconda, river dolphins, and the Orinoco crocodile which is critically endangered today. The Orinoco crocodile is one of the world’s longest crocodiles and can reach 20 feet in length.
This week listen to Orinoco class talking about Chinese New Year. Then they sing a Happy New Year song in Chinese and ask each other about their Chinese Zodiac animal.
The children then read the poem Attack of the Vegetables by Gareth Lancaster and talk about artists Gustav Klimt and Claude Monet. At the end you can hear Ms Saeed’s song choice for this week’s Desert Island Disc feature.
