The Scoop Week 23rd April 2024

Hello Lyndhurst Family,

Firstly, I wanted to thank all of you for your kind words and messages over the last few days- it has meant an awful lot.

You should last week have received your child’s end of Spring Term Parent report, this gives you a snap shot of their attainment for the last term. You will of course still receive a more detailed end of year report in the summer term.

And to all of those families celebrating Passover this week, Chag Pesach sameach!

Here are this week’s notices:

Eid Celebration:
We had planned to celebrate Eid this Friday but having had a great meeting with parents who want to be involved we have decided that it would be better to celebrate Eid Al-Adha (the feast of sacrifice) with the longer-term plan to alternate between the two Eids. Therefore, we are pushing back our celebration to Friday, June 21st.

Lyndhurst Bazaar:
A reminder that the second annual Lyndhurst Bazaar is fast approaching on May 11th. You can book a table using this link. More information can be found on this poster.

The Camberwell Kumon Centre Opens at Lyndhurst:
We are delighted to be able to bring the Kumon Maths and English Programmes to the Lyndhurst Primary School community!
From May, weekly Kumon classes will be held at school on Monday and Thursday afternoons, 3.30-6.00pm. And to help you get started with Kumon before the end of the summer term, we’re offering Free Registration between 1 May and 30 June 2024.
You’ll choose which day of the week to attend and if to study maths or English, or both, with students completing work inside and outside of class to build good study habits and further develop their understanding of the material.
You can find more information about the Kumon Programmes here: https://www.kumon.co.uk/
To book your place, please contact your Instructor, Fatima, using the details on this flyer.

The Black Cultural Conversation:
The Black Culture Conversation aims to understand how Southwark Council can best support a sustainable and thriving future for the Black cultural sector. In order to research this, Southwark want to hear from diverse voices across the community. You can access the survey here until the 12th of  May.

School Streets:
As you will have seen from my email last week, it seems that the school streets cameras are now operational. Please be aware that driving in to the school street area during the allocated times will result in a fine issued by Southwark. We are once again very sorry that the communication about this has been less than ideal- we have provided feedback about this. Some of you may receive letters about infractions but we are assured that no actual fines were issued last week.

PE Dates:
The final PE dates for this term are as follows:

Year OneMonday

Year TwoMonday & Wednesday (Yangtze)/ Friday (Yarra)
