The west end comes to Camberwell!
In June, our Year 6 students delivered a spectacular production of High School Musical, brought to life by the creative direction of Miss Savvides and Miss Hobbs. With just four weeks of intensive rehearsals, the cast worked tirelessly to perfect their performances. Under the expert guidance of Mr. Valentine, the students learned all the well-known songs from the musical, including the iconic “We’re All In This Together” and “Breaking Free.” The choreography, taught by Ms. Swann, was a standout feature, particularly the thrilling dance routines that incorporated basketballs—an exciting twist that added extra energy to the performance. Personalized costumes by Ms. Fadayomi helped bring each character to life, while the fantastic props and scenery created by Mr. Turner and Mr. Speer transformed the stage into East High. The lighting and sound, expertly managed by Mr. Chambers, added to the magic of the performance.
The result was a truly unforgettable show that showcased the students’ incredible teamwork, dedication, and creativity. Despite the short rehearsal period, the students’ hard work paid off with a show full of energy, passion, and fun. The production sold out three times, with audiences captivated by the performances. The children also took on the task of creating their own programs for the parents, adding a personal touch to the experience. Each cast member embraced their role with enthusiasm, making the show a night to remember for all. The production not only highlighted the students' theatrical talents but also fostered a sense of collaboration and confidence, leaving everyone with memories of a performance that will be cherished for years to come.
