The Scoop Week 10th October 2023

I can’t quite believe the first half term has almost finished! It has been wonderful seeing all of our new families settle in to life atLyndhurst as well as seeing classes re-establishing their routines andbehaviours. We have had lots going in behind the scenes as well as we finish ourrefurbishment of the year one classrooms (the carpets and cabinetry go induring half term), plan the new teaching walls and spruce up for the receptionrooms that will happen over the half term and the opening of a new pupil toiletfor use at break and lunchtimes. As well as all of that we are applying forgrants to make our reception classrooms more energy efficient, planning the long-awaitedrefit of the year one toilets, and finding funding to regenerate the firstfloor outside terrace and the outside space at the front of the school.  We are really excited about the improvements toour site that you will see this year.

Here are this week’s notices:

Trust Magazine:

Take a look at this term’s Charter Schools Educational Trust’s magazine toread about some of the amazing things that our school (and our family ofschools) have been up to!

SEND Quiz:

It’s not to late to book a spot to our exciting SEND quiznight on Thursday 19th November in what will be the transformed lower hall.Tickets are available either on Parent Pay or are being sold in the playgroundon various days this week. You can also donate using our fundraising page.  It can be easy tothink that the school’s provision for children with special educational needsdoesn’t make a difference to a neurotypical child but that simply is not thecase. When we can provide the best provision for all of our children so thatthey can all have an equitable access to the curriculum then we are trulymodelling to our children what it means to live in a diverse society. Inaddition, when all of our pupils are supported to manage their sensory needsand to be able to better self-regulate than the environment for all of ourpupils is more conducive to learning. We are so close to having sufficientfunds for this exciting project, we just need a final push, so please comealong for what will be a very enjoyable evening with fantastic food & drinkon offer too.

Parents Evening:

Just a reminder that parents evenings take place this week, you can book your spot using the ‘My Child at School’ app either using thequick book function or clicking on the orange box to see all available timeslots. This week we also have the year five 1:1 secondary school meeting withMr Turnham. Ms Savvides appointments are being rolled over to next week (as perthe email sent yesterday).

Early Closure:

A reminder that this Friday we are closing at 1:15pm so thatstaff can take part in some diversity training. We understand that this causesextra childcare logistics and thank you for your support.

Working Weekend:

Last year we had several verysuccessful working weekends where we renovated the memorial garden, treated thewood in the playground and tackled some of the flower beds. We would like tohave one more push before the winter kicks in—we have a bit more to do in thememorial garden and many of our flower beds need some more love and attention. We will be having a working day on Saturday, 18th November. You donot need any experience just gardening gloves, a travel mug and a smile.
